The Des Moines Register reports: "Indianola High School [(DS)] has forfeited two football games . . . following findings [by the Iowa High School Athletic Association that the] team used academically ineligible players. . . ."
In a move unprecedented in the history of the COARSE, points will be taken away from a contestant due to this scandal. DS will lose the point previously awarded for the Indianola v. Hoover (KCoo) game, and the point for the Indianola v. Sioux City West game. KCoo will receive the point and be considered the winner for the Indianola v. Hoover game. Indianola's CIML record is now 0-6. Indianola (DS) and North (JJ) are now the only CIML teams without a win.
In addition, COARSE contestant DS is now placed on double super secret probation pending an investigation into his possible involvement in this high school football controversy, especially in light of his attendance at the college in Indianola, his continued contact with a fraternity located in Indianola, and his poor showing in the 2009 COARSE. Be assured, newbies to the COARSE, DS will be watched carefully in the other COARSE events, and any attempts by DS to cheat will result in elimination from COARSE events. It is the mission of the COARSE committee to continue this competition as a fun and fair event, and we will not tolerate any attempts to corrupt it.
