The Sing-Off Ep. 4 Recap
Man, I love this show! Ya'll are with me on this, right? This week was the second round for the other remaining six teams, The Collective (CS), Dartmouth Aires (GB), Sonos (JM/SC00), Pentatonix (KCoo), Northshore (LF), and the University of Delaware Deltones (MO). Like last week, the teams performed two songs: the first a revision of a current hit, the second a song from the 60s.
Since my group, Kinfolk 9, was unfairly kicked off last week (seriously, check out their previous songs on my last post--they're fab), I have adopted Northshore and Delilah (who performed last week) as my new teams. Northshore is a for real barbershop quintet, and although their dudes are older and a former clerk would definitely think them "foxy," they are totes rocking! For their revision of a current song, they sang Bruno Mars's The Lazy Song. Because I am older myself, I've never heard of this song and therefore had no idea what to expect. They were soooo great!
They later sang Unchained Melody, which as Ben Folds put it, is their bread and butter. They sang it well.
Other songs I enjoyed:
The Deltones took on Lady Gaga's The Edge and did a nice job. It's stuck in my head currently.
The Dartmouth Aires did Pinball Wizard as their 60's song--it was like being AT Tommy. Awesome.
Finally, sent home this week was Sonos (JM/SCoo). They generally use some kind of pedal magic to fill up their voices. Since this is an acappella competition, they can't use them and they just couldn't make it work. Here's their revision of a current hit, Coldplay's Vida la Vida.
KCar out!
