From the brilliant MR:
(exposure: $1; handle: $16.50)
Before even a spatula was picked up or a faux hawk gelled, Vegas bookmakers’ line picked Eve Aronoff as the favorite with odds of 5/1. Maybe they didn’t know that DS (not a Chalk Player) had picked her or that she was a couple aces short of a deck, because her knives are packed. The chef chosen to come in second—KCar’s Preeti Mistry with odds of 6/1. Her Ginsus are also packed and may be in hock down the street at Pawn Stars. If these were the picked winners, who were the dogs? Ash Fulk (MR) was the long shot with odds of 35/1, and he is still cookin’. Ashley Merriman (GB) was next at 30/1, and she’s also hanging in there, but may be showing signs of cracking under the pressure. And the brothers? Michael (JE) was chosen more likely to win with odds of 11/1 to beat big brother Bryan (KCoo) at 15/1.
This wise guy’s best bet at this point to win would be Jennifer Carroll (KA), whose odds were only 20/1—must have been her lack of a faux hawk. My pick for the puppy at this point?—Ashley Merrriman (GB). My odds of the brothers having some kind of tearful “I love you man” reconciliation: 2/1. And, in the event of a sibling fistfight, who will throw the first punch? It’s 50/50. Michael is definitely more of the antagonist, but quieter, calmer Bryan looks as if he’s ready to blow up at any time.
Professor and MaryAnn:
Ron Duprat (BH) 6/1
Kevin Gillespie (SCoo) 8/1
Mattin Noblia (KM) 10/1
Jesse Sandlin (AM) 12/1
Laurine Wickett (SCan) 14/1
Hector Santiago (SL) 18/1
Eli Kirshtein (MO) 22/1
Jennifer Zavala (KM) 24/1
Michael Isabella (CS) 25/1
Robin Leventhal (AS) 28/1
(exposure: $1; handle $16)
The Sportsbooks have also compiled a line on the DWTS contestants, and, no surprise, Tom Delay (KCar) at 13/1 is the longshot. The favorite is Natalie Coughlin (SL) at 6/1. And the rest of the field:
Joanna Krupa (BH) 13/2
Melissa Joan Hart (MR) 7/1
Mya (DS) 7/1
Donny Osmond (KM) 15/2
Mark Dacascos (AM) 15/2
Michael Irvin (MO) 8/1
Ashley Hamilton (SCan) 8/1
Chuck Liddell (SCoo) 9/1
Kathy Ireland (KCoo) 9/1
Debi Mazar (AS) 19/2
Macy Gray (KA) 10/1
Kelly Osbourne (JE) 11/1
Aaron Carter (CS) 12/1
Louis Vito (GB) 12/1
And just in case some of you don’t know how to read odds, these are listed in order with the more likely at the top through the least likely. 13/2 means you would receive $13 profit for ever $2 bet (or $15 back), so it’s equal to about 6.5/1. Questions? Ask me. I did a “how to” speech in the 6th grade on how to read a racing form.
