NFL Week 2__________________
Here is Smelly Goat Rug Champion Predictions:

KC Chiefs (AM) @
Detroit Lions
There is a lot wrong with the Chiefs.  Detroit has turned its team around and is a sleeper to win the bruising NFC Central.  Look for Detroit’s D to dominate.

Prediction:  Detroit by 17
TB Buccaneers (LF) @
MN Vikings (BD)
Minnesota’s defense is really good, but outside of Adrian Peterson, there offense is not.  Tampa Bay is young and up and coming.

Prediction:  Tampa Bay by 7
GB Packers (BH) @
Car Panthers (KCar)
Cam Newton looked good in his opener, but the defending Champ is no Arizona.  Green Bay will roll.

Prediction:  Green Bay by 24
STL Rams (CS) @
NY Giants
Without Steven Jackson, the Rams offense won’t be as consistent.  Manning will throw his 2 picks but also 2 TD’s.

Prediction:  NY Giants by 5
SD Chargers (DS) @
NE Patriots (JMSCoo)
This is a matchup of two of the best QBs in the league.  I think Brady will get the better of Rivers.

Prediction:  New England by 2
Sea Seahawks (GB) @
Pitt Steelers
Steelers turned the ball over 7 times in last week’s street fight with Baltimore.  Seattle’s defense is not nearly as good.  Look for Pittsburgh to get back on track.

Prediction: Pittsburgh by 21
Cin Bengals (JJ) @
Denver Broncos
Denver fans want “the savior” even though he’s a third-stringer.  Despite the fans hatred, the Bengals are not good.

Prediction:  Denver by 1
Dallas Cowboys (MO) @
SF 49ers (KA)
The Cowboys played well but could not close out the NY Jets last week.  The 49ers are still trying to find their stride.  Look for Dallas to have a few big plays on their way to a close win.

Prediction:  Dallas by 4
AZ Cardinals (KCoo) @
WA Redskins (SCan)
Washington surprised everyone last week when they dominated the NY Giants.  I’m sticking with them.

Prediction:  Washington by 3
NY Jets (KW) @
JV Jaguars
NY Jets D will win this game on their own.

Prediction:  NY Jets by 14
Clev Browns (SL) @
IN Colts (MR)
The Colts are just plain bad without Manning.  The Browns will pound the rock with Peyton Hillis, and win in a close one.

Prediction:  Cleveland by 3
Italicized teams still available for $0.50

CIML WEEK 5 HIGHLIGHTS:__________
Roosevelt gets a WIN, and JJ earns her first CIML point with the Rough Riders’ nail biter over Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, 16-13.
Ottumwa (KW) beat DSM North (JJ), so JJ still has one team without a win, along with KCoo, who has DSM Hoover, and CS, who was DSM East.  Eventually these three DSM Metro teams will play each other, and we’ll know for sure which team is the worst of the worst.
Marshalltown’s (SCan) QB Blake Gimbel set a new Iowa High School passing record with 567 yards in the Bobcats’ win over Sioux City East.
Dowling  (LF) beat Fort Dodge (KCar) by a score of 47-7.  Sources say Mark Cady, overcome with emotion, scored Fort Dodge’s lone touchdown to keep the Dodgers from suffering a complete shutout.  The fourteen-to-eighteen-year-olds for both teams were initially confused by the elder Cady entering the playing field, but he quickly introduced himself to all the players, eliminating any awkwardness.
Urbandale (MO) beat Johnston (MR), 31-10.  Did MO ask some of those Johnston high school kids he hangs around to purposely throw this game?  Matlock will be looking into this.
Ames (SL) beat Mason City (KA), giving SL a total of 5 CIML points in the COARSE.  The only other participant with 5 CIML points is BH, who has WDSM Valley (beat Sioux City West this week)—no surprise there.
Ankeny (BD) killed Indianola (DS)—really no surprise after DSM Lincoln (GB) beat Indianola last week.
Southeast Polk (JM/SCoo), DSM East (CS), DSM Lincoln (GB), and DSM Hoover (KCoo) did not play this week.  (Four DSM area teams, hmm, maybe they could have played each other?)

Big Ten Week 3 Results:_______
 Football Guru: 8-4
